The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions volleyball team lost in their quarter-final playoff game against Penn State Lehigh Valley 3-0.
The Beaver girls came into the playoffs with high hopes at a championship, but their playoff run was cut abruptly short in their road loss.
Against a tough LehighValley offense, Beaver was close in two of the three sets as sophomore, Morgan Cannister led the team in kills with 10 followed by Brooke Tomasko who tallied 8. In the first set, Beaver took and early lead but allow Lehigh to tie the game at 15 and as the teams went point for point down the stretch, Beaver wasn't able to hang on, losing 25-21.
In the second set Beaver got rattled early and never recoverd, falling 25-17. But in the third set Beaver refocused and even with a late injury and having to work out of system, the Lady Lions battled with Lehigh Valley going point for point through 24 points. Unfortunately, a late service error and a bad pass on the following reception gave Lehigh Valley the two point advantage, 26-24, to take the third and final set.
Beaver finishes with a conference record of 11-4 in the regular season and made their 4th consecutive playoff run under Coach Bertges.
