Monaca, PA -- The Penn State Beaver women's volleyball team faced off against Penn State Mont Alto for what looked to be another great conference matchup. The team comes into this match looking to keep up their good play from the day before where they split a doubleheader. Beaver has been inconsistent early in the season but has shown great improvements this week that they look to build upon in this game.
Beaver started this game off playing a sloppy first set. There was a lot of miscommunication amogst the Beaver girls that ended up costing them a lot of points, and eventually the set as Penn State Mont Alto ended up winning the first set by a score of 25-22.
The second set went a lot better for Beaver, as the girls were all on the same page it seemed and everything started going right for them. The team made big play after big play, dominating Mont Alto in this set in almost every aspect. Beaver ran away with this one by a score of 25-17.
The third set was more dominance by Beaver as they continued to outplay Mont Alto. The team was loud and energetic, to a point where their energy really killed all momentum for the Mont Alto women. Beaver came out in the fourth set looking to end this one once and for all. However, Mont Alto showed that they still had some life early in this set as Beaver looked to tire out a little. Both teams dug deep in this set and battled for every point, but eventually Mont Alto came out on top as Beaver couldn't string together the points it needed in the final few serves of the set, losing 25-22.
The fifth and final set started out with tensions high for both teams. It was easy to tel that neither team wanted to walk away without this win and it became an all out sprint to get to 15 points. In the end, it was Beaver that came out on top, barely edging out Penn State Mont Alto in the final set of this one by a score of 15-9.
Beaver really battled in this game, showing just how resilient of a team they are and just how badly they wanna win. The team played another solid game today, even with their rocky start.
