McKeesport, PA -- The Penn State Beaver women's volleyball team took on Penn State Brandywine in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday, October 1 in McKeesport. The team comes into this game looking to improve on their two game win streak in which they looked very impressive against some good opponents. Still with only one loss in conference play, Beaver is starting to hit their stride in what could be a great season for them.
This game started off with Beaver looking a little tired coming into their second game of the day. As the first set went on Beaver began to play as they did in their first game of the day. However, Brandywine took control late in the first set, keeping Beaver at bay and taking this one by a score of 25-19. Brandywine came out in the second set looking to show Beaver why they are still undefeated in conference play. While Beaver played well, mistakes started to take their toll as Brandywine took advantage of some sloppy moments for Beaver. Brandywine won the second set by a score of 25-17. Beaver really looked determined to win the third set as they played hard and almost took this one, but in the end Brandywine looked a lot better today as they won the set 25-21, while taking home a win in this match by a score of three sets to none.
Beaver took home a disappointing loss in this one as they were able to keep up with a Brandywine team that hasn't lost a conference game yet. Beaver was lead by Sophomore Morgan Cannister, who had 11 kills in this one. Beaver now sits at 9-9 overall with a 5-2 in conference record. The team will return to action on Sunday, October 2 at home against Penn State Mont Alto. Game time is set for 2 pm.
