Monaca, PA -- The Penn State Beaver volleyball team squared off against the ladies of Penn State Du Bois for what looked to be a good conference match on a Wednesday night. Penn State Beaver comes into this game having lost their last match on the road. They come into this game missing one of their senior leaders, Jenna Petrucci, due to injury and would love to take this one for her.
The game started off as a back and forth battle for the begining of the first set, as neither team seemed to get in a groove for a while. But as Beaver started gaining momentum the gym got louder and the girls looked as though they were feeding off the energy. The team look dominant for the rest of the first set, winning 25-12.
As the second set began, Penn State Beaver began to get a large student section and it grew louder and louder with every point the team racked up. With great play from the service line in this game, 11 serving aces, Beaver was able to cruise to a win in the second set winning 25-16.
Beaver looked a little sloppier in the third set, but they didn't lose control of the game for a second. As the energy in the gym went down a little you could see that the team's energy went down as well, as they lost some momentum halfway through the set. It didn't matter though as the girls were able to pick up their game and finish off the ladies from Du Bois, winning the set by a score of 25-19 and taking the win for themselves.
This was a very impressive performance by Beaver, as they played in a very dominant fashion from begining to end in this one. Beaver was led by Roxy Kie, who had 6 serving aces and 19 assists, and Jordan Militelo, who had 3 solo blocks and 5 kills, in their victory. The team now sits at an 8-8 overall record with a 4-1 in conference record. Beaver will play next on Saturday, October 1 against Penn State Brandywine at Penn State Greater Allegheny. Game time is set for 2 pm.
