Butler, PA -- The Penn State Beaver women's volleyball team went on the road to take on Butler County Community College for a non-conference matchup. Beaver comes into this match looking to put together another consistent performance as they had just a few days before against Penn State Greater Allegeheny.
This game started off looking as though it would be a tough matchup for the Beaver women. With both teams playing strong through the first set it came down to the very end of the set when Butler pulled ahead, taking the set 25-23. The second set started out with a much different tone for Beaver, as they didn't put up quite the same fight that they did in the first set. Butler took full advantage of Beaver's play and ended up taking this set by a score of 25-14. The third set saw a Beaver team with a little more life in them. As they tried to pull themselves together and come back to win this set Butler kept pushing, and with the momentum on their side Butler was able to this set as well, winning 25-21.
The Beaver women once again looked to play another inconsistent game against an opponent that could have been beaten. With good performances offensively by Brooke Tomasko and Amanda Mike, who had six kills each, Beaver looked very impressive at times in this game, but ultimately their inability to string together any momentum was their downfall yet again. Beaver now stands at 7-8 overall with a 3-1 conference record. The team will return home to take on Penn State Du Bois for a conference matchup on Wednesday, September 28. The start time for this game is set for 7 pm.
