Beaver Rallies Past Greater Allegheny
Lady Lions win in 3 straight sets over Greater Allegheny
McKeesport, PA -- Beaver rallies past Greater Allegheny in three straight sets for their third PSUAC win of the season.
After coming off of back to back losses in the previous week, Beaver was looking to get back to their winning ways on the road. In the first set of action, Beaver came out agressively, taking an early lead by hitting aggressively. As a team, they tallied a total of 13 kills in the first set lead by junior, Jenna Petrucci, sophomore, Morgan Cannister and freshman, Amanda Mike, each with three kills in the set, winning 25-19.
The second set, Beaver started on their heels, but were able to get back into their offensive rhythm as four Lady Lions (Roxy Kie, Brooke Tomasko, Morgan Cannister and Jenna Petrucci) each added another three kills a piece to their kill totals as the team put down fourteen kills in the second set, winning by a score of 25-17.
Set three saw similar action, but far less work was needed on offense for Beaver as they relied on their serving to deflate the Lions of Greater Allegheny, with just 8 kills in the set, Beaver was able to win set three by a final score of 25-18.
In the match Beaver was lead by Petrucci with ten kills, one ace and eleven digs followed by Cannister who tallied 8 kills, 12 digs, 1 solo block and 2 assisted blocks.
Beaver returns to action on Monday, September 26th as they travel to Butler County Community College for a non-conference matchup. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
