The Beaver girls come into their third game of their opening tournament looking to come away with a win to secure themselves a third place finish against a good opponent in Penn State Fayette. Fayette has looked strong throughout the tournament and Beaver looks to match up well with them and hopefully get the job done.
The first set started off with Fayette taking an early lead as Beaver struggled to get it going. Fayette played well from the service line and Beaver battled to keep up. As the set went on Fayette pulled ahead with a big lead that Beaver was unable to overcome as they dropped this set by a score of 25-16.
The second set didnt go much better for Beaver as once again Fayette looked dominant on the court. Beaver played well but Fayette was just too much for them to handle as they looked very impressive once again. At the end of the set Fayette walked away with a win by a score of 25-18.
Beaver looked to stop Fayette's momentum going into the third set but it looked as if all the life was gone for them by the middle of the set. Fayette came out to another good lead and Beaver couldn't seem to find an answer as Fayette cruised to both the set and match victories with a final set score of 25-12 and a match score of three sets to none.
This was the final game for the Beaver girls in their opening tip-off tournament and they walked away with a fourth place finsih. Even with the disappointing finishes Beaver did play fairly well against some tough opponents. Freshman Amanda Mike played well in this match as she tallied seven kills on just nine attmepts. The Beaver girls will play again on Tuesday, August 30 at Mercyhurst Northeast at 6 pm.
