Lady Lions End Losing Streak With a 5-0 Run

Williamsport, PA - After a tough beginning to its season, the Beaver Lady Lions have bounced back, creating a four game winning streak. Defeating Penn State Hazleton (Hazleton, PA) and Penn College (Williamsport, PA) in a double header, the Lions come home undefeated in the PSUAC.
In the first match, Beaver faced Penn State Hazleton. The Lions ran through Hazleton in three quick sets, taking its first win, 25-11, 25-16 and 25-7.
Senior Jen Hain (Northgate/Pittsburgh, PA) led the team with 3 digs and an impressive 23 assists, while Junior Heather Sandusky (New Brighton/New Brighton, PA) earned 13 kills.
Next, Beaver took on the Penn College Wildcats in a much more competitive match that pushed all the way to five sets.
In the first set, Beaver rallied back and forth with the Wildcats, point by point. After struggling to come out on top, the Lions pulled through and won the set, 25-20.
The next set was similar to the first. However, Penn College beat Beaver by four points (25-21.) In the third set, Beaver went on a surge, crushing the Wildcats by the score of 25-10.
By the fourth set, the Lady Lions were tired but determined to win the set and end the game. Unfortunately, Beaver lost the set by a mere three points (25-22,) which took the game into a fifth and final set.
In the deciding game, neither team backed down, and again battled point by point. However, the Lady Lions grabbed the victory, 15-12.
With a strong supporting cast, as well as Hain's 36 assists and 13 digs and Sandusky's 24 kills, Beaver was able to defend it's spotless PSUAC record.
Its next game is on Saturday, Sept. 19th at 2pm. at Penn State Greater Allegheny (McKeesport, PA.) The Lions currently stand at 6-6, and 5-0 in the PSUAC.
