Lady Lions defeat Brandywine gaining their first win of the season!
Beaver win against Brandywine 6-3

Media, PA - The women's soccer team went head to head with Penn State Brandywine in a match that may turn everything around for the Lady Lions!
The first half of the match was an eventful one. Beaver rallied in the first half of play to score 4 goals out of their 6. They fought hard the whole match coming out with an excellent victory over the women at Brandywine. Within the first 10 minutes Brandywine had made their mark on the field scoring two goals. Beaver answered back though making their first goal in the 16th minute (16:01) unassisted by freshman forward Morgan Stillwagon (Freedom, PA/ Ambridge). 10 minutes later (26:04) freshman forward Sadie Stillwagon (Freedom, PA/ Freedom) headed it off of a corner kick of Stillwagon.
Continuing on in the first half, freshman Cortney Harden (Beaver Falls, PA/ Riverside) beat the goalkeeper in the bottom right corner with an unassisted goal in the 27th minute (27:22). Minutes later (32:41) Harden would go on to score another unassisted goal, scoring off of a free kick. Just before the first half ended, Brandywine answered back in the 34th minute to score their final goal all game.
Coming back for the 2nd half Beaver kept on battling for 30 minutes until in 75 minute (75:13) when freshman midfielder Edisa Bukuru (Pittsburgh, PA/ Brashear) scored, assisted by Stillwagon. 3 minutes passed by and Beaver gained another and final goal by Bukuru once again but was unassisted this time. Bukuru scored the final goal completing the score 6-3 to Beaver.
Junior forward Jessica Spina (Jefferson Hills, PA/ Thomas Jefferson), Harden, and Stillwagon each had a total of 5 shots. Spina had 3 shots on goal, Stillwagon had 2, and Harden also had two shots on goal. Following Bukuru with 3 shots on goal out of 3 shots. Stillwagon came out with a total of 2 assists. Freshman Brittany Zahn (New Brighton, PA/ New Brighton) was in goal this game who faced 7 shots on goal with 4 saves and concieded 3 goals.
They are now 1-1 in the PSUAC and are 1-3 overall. For their next match, the Lady Lions travel Tuesday, September 22, at 3 p.m. to take on WCCC.
