Beaver falls to Slippery Rock
The Rock downs the Lions 28-9
Monaca, PA--- The Penn State Beaver Wrestling team hosted Slippery Rock for their first home match of the season. Slippery Rock bested the Lions by a score of 28-9. In the 141 weight class, Sean Newkirk (McDonough, Henry County) won by decision 13-9. Newkirk continues to wrestle well as he improves his individual record to 3-3 on the season. In the 157 weight class, Bobby Tempalski (Hookstown, Hopewell) lost by fall at 4:53 of the 2nd period. In the 165 weight class, Dylan Winkle (Aliquippa, Hopewell) lost by major decision 13-4.
Beaver won the 184 weight class by a Slippery Rock forfeit and Joshua Moon (Seoul Korea, Seoul) lost in the 235 weight class by fall at 1:29 1st period. Finally in the 285 heavyweight class, Devante Phillip (Waldorf MD, Thomas Stone) lost by fall at 1:21 1st period.
Beaver once again improved on their previous match as they continue to see their more experienced midweights wrestle tough and their heavyweights continue to work hard and gain more experience. Beaver will be back at home on Tuesday as they host Penn State Greater Allegheny with the match starting at 7pm.
