Season ends in Semi-Finals for Beaver 67-70
Richmond, VA. - The Women's Basketball team played an amazing season but fell just short of making it to the championship game at the USCAA National Tournament. After an amazing season going 24-5 overall and 16-3 in conference they set the bar high in hopes for next year. In today's game the Lions took on Johnson and Wales - Charlotte who tested them the whole game. In a tough match-up Beaver proved they could hang but it was just not enough to bring home the victory. In the final seconds of the game, JWU -Charlotte scored once again making the final score 70-67.
Beaver started the game off hot. They outscored the Wildcats in 2 out of the 4 quarters, 20-17 in the first, and 17-13 in the fourth. During the second and third quarters though Beaver was only able to score 15 points each while the Wildcats scored 19 and 21 respectively. Beaver shot 25-56 in field goal range (44.6%), they went 6-14 on three-point shots (42.9%) and made 11-19 free-throw attempts (57.9%). Beaver worked hard to put Johnson & Wales away but JWU made 1 more field goal and 4 more 3-point shots than the Lions. Even with the extra 3 free-throws Beaver made it was not enough to secure a victory and send them to the championship.
Overall, everyone for Beaver made a huge contribution this season and it was shown again today by everyone who touched the floor.
