Beaver Defeats DuBois in Final Regular Season Game
DuBois, PA - Penn State Beaver Women's Basketball team was back on the road tonight for their final regular season game. So far, the Women's Basketball team has 20 wins and only 3 loses.
DuBois came out quick in the first quarter getting a three point shot within 20 seconds of the game. DuBois went the first three minutes of the game on a 6-0 run. DuBois remained in the lead for the rest of the first quarter after Beaver's rough start. DuBois finished with 15 points while Beaver finished with 12. Beaver quickly turned it around in the second quarter. The came out quick to take the lead over DuBois and kept it that way for the rest of the quarter. By the end of the second, Beaver scored 18 points and only allowed DuBois to score 6. The halftime score sat in Beaver's favor 30-21.
Beaver played their best in the third quarter. They held onto their lead, and played amazing basketball. They had stops on defense and finished on the offensive end. Beaver dropped 22 points, their highest scoring quarter, and allowed DuBois to score 10. The fourth quarter was also a great one for Beaver. They were rebounding the ball well, getting stops on defense, executing their plays, and finishing at the basket. Beaver closed out the quarter scoring 16 points, giving DuBois 10, and securing their 21st win of the season defeating DuBois 68-41.
Junior Kyra Seggewiss (Calgary Alberta, Canada) recorded a double-double in tonight's win finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Alison Boykin (Canton, OH) finished with 14 points, 3 blocks, 5 steals, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds. Freshman Makitah Logan (Pittsburgh, PA) frame off the bench to score 16 points. Logan also finished with 3 assists, 4 steals, 1 block, and 6 rebounds. Junior Caitlyn O'Hara (Norco, CA) finished with 10 points, 1 block, 1 steal, and 8 rebounds.
The Women's Basketball team recorded their 21st win tonight. They close out the regular season with a 21-3 record. Beaver went undefeated at home this season. Beaver also secured the number 1 seed after their final home game last week. Beaver will begin playoffs this Saturday, February 25, at home. Beaver will be taking on Pen State Fayette for the third time this season. Tip off begins at 2pm EST. Come out and show your support as Beaver begins the road back to the conference championship.
