Freshman Kelsey Brooks scored a career high 17 points in the win against Penn State Wilkes-Barre
Monaca, PA- Freshman Kelsey Brooks (Pittsburgh, PA/Carrick) scored a career high 17 points for the Lady Lions as they downed Penn State Wilkes-Barre 76-48. Brooks shot 8-15 from the floor and 1-2 from the charity stripe, making the most of the 21 minutes she logged on the court.
Sophomore Cassandra Flowers (Pittsburgh, PA/Westinghouse) recorded another double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Sophomore Morgan Kurtz (Trinity/Washington, PA) added 12 points as well.
The Lady Lions shot 41 percent (21-51) in the first half on their way to a 47-19 halftime lead. The real story of the game was turnovers and steals. Beaver created 35 turnovers on 28 steals.
With the win, Beaver now sits at 13-10 overall, and 10-3 in the PSUAC. The Lady Lions return to action Friday and Saturday, when they close the 2013-14 regular season hosting Penn State Hazleton and Scranton. Tip-off Friday is set for 6PM. Beaver has clinched a playoff spot, but these last two games will be crucial for seeding and home court advantage throughout the playoffs.
