Lady Lions defeat Penn State Du Bois
Beaver wins, 102-66
Monaca, PA- The Penn State Beaver women's basketball team picked up a win at home against Penn State Du Bois.
In the first half, Beaver took the lead early when Morgan Kurtz (Washington, PA / Trinity) opened up the scoring for the night. Beaver held that lead for most of that half, increasing it to 10 at the 12:38 mark (20-10). Du Bois began chipping away at Beaver's lead at the 7:06 mark. Du Bois then went on a 7 point run taking their first lead of the night (27-23). Du Bois would keep that lead for the remainder of the half with a score of 40-38.
In the second half, Beaver opened the flood gates on offense, scoring point after point led by Cassandra Flowers (Pittsburgh, PA / Westinghouse). Beaver increased their lead rapidly and won with a score of 102-66.
Beaver was led on offense by Flowers with a double-double, 27 points and 11 rebounds. Kurtz and Mason DePetro (Coraopolis, PA / Cornell) also contributed to the lead with 19 and 17 points respectively.
Beaver now has a conference record of 9-3 (12-10) and goes up against Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday February 12th at 2:00 p.m.
