Lady Lions Lose Last Home Game of the Season
Strong first half for Beaver wasn't enough to keep Ohio University Eastern away in the second half

Monaca, PA- The Lady Lions of Penn State Beaver (14-9, 11-3 PSUAC) played their last game of the regular season tonight against Ohio University Eastern (St. Clairsville, OH).
Coleen Mead (Newport Harbor/Costa Mesa, CA) started off the game with a quick layup giving Beaver a 2-0 lead. The Lady Panthers of Ohio University Eastern responded however with an 11-0 run to take an 11-2 lead. At the 12:20 mark in the first half, a layup from Junior, Brittany Tomaselli (East Liverpool/East Liverpool, OH), started off a 13-6 run for the Lady Lions to tie the game at 17 with 8:25 left in the half. Ohio went on another run, but with 3:23 left in the half, Hali DeSarro (East Liverpool/East Liverpool, OH) captured a steal as well as a layup to give Beaver a 25-23 lead for the first time since the opening minutes. Beaver closed out the half with a 7-5 run, and went into halftime ahead 32-28.
The Lady Panthers came out of the locker room for the second half going on a 12-0 run to take a 40-32 lead, their first lead since 5:04 left in the first half. The second half remained close, as the Lady Lions brought the game within one (52-51) with 4:35 left in the game. Ohio University finished the game off with a 12-4 run however, as the Lady Lions went on to lose 64-55. Beaver ends their regular season with a 14-9 record overall.
Tomaselli lead the team tonight with 17 points, followed by Amanda Temple (Avella/Avella, PA) with 12, and Mead with 13. Temple recorded another double-double with 14 rebounds, and Kalynn Hill (Montour/Pittsburgh, PA) recorded 13 of her own. The Lady Lions shot 30.8% from the field, including a season low 13.6% from three-point range, and 44.4% from the free-throw line.
The Lady Lions will be the #2 seed in the PSUAC playoffs. Their next game will be Tuesday, February 21, 2012. The time and opponent will be announced at a later date.
