Beaver Goes Down After Fighting Hard Against Carlow
Monaca, PA - Beaver took on Carlow in a double-header today in their first home game of the season. Beaver has had an amazing start to their season finishing spring traiing 6-1. The first game was rough for Beaver, being defeated 11-3. Carlow came out to score 4 runs in four innings and keeping Beaver from scoring any. Carlow put up another 3 runs in the top of the fifth, and Beaver repsonded with 3 runs of their own. Carlow would finish the game scroing 4 runs in the top of the sixth compared to Beaver scoring none. The second game went much better for Beaver. Carow scored 5 runs in the top of the first, and Beaver responded with 3 of their own. In the following three innings, Beaver would score 7 runs compared to Carlow scoring just 1. Beaver woul fall just short after Carlow scored 6 runs in the top of the fifth. Beaver could not get any runs for the rest of the game, and Carlow traveled hom with 2 wins after defeating Beaver 12-10 in the last game.
In the first game, sophomore Bre Thomas (Ambridge, PA) faced 28 batters, striking out 4 of them. Thomas had a rough time oitching giving Carlow 7 hits and having 7 errors. On the offensive end, senior Chloe Coleman (Moon, Twp, PA), sophomore Elena Denezza (New Brighton, PA), and junior Kylie Magnotta (Monaca, PA) each scored 1 run for Beaver.
In the second game, senior Chloe Coleman shined for Beaver finishing with 2 runs, one of them being a homerun, and 4 RBIs off of 4 hits. Senior Cassadie Speed (Cranbury, NJ) was also on top for Beaver finishing with a home run of her own, scoring a total of 3 runs, and having 2 RBIs off of just 2 hits. Freshman Selene Lopez (Simi Valley, CA) finished the game scoring 2 runs and having an RBI off of 2 hits. Senior Valentina Sandoval (Miami, FL) finished with 2 runs and an RBI off of 2 hits. Kylie Magnotta scored 1 run for beaver off of just 1 hit.
Beaver will be back on the mound traveling to take on Penn State Fayette in the first conference double-header of the season. The games being starting at 2 pm Friday, March 24. Wish them luck as they begin conference play!
