Freyermuth leads offensive attack; Lady Lions open PSUAC schedule with two victories

Monaca, PA - The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions opened their PSUAC schedule with two victories over Penn State Worthington Scranton.
In game one, senior Kayla Chambers took the mound and pitched a gem, throwing five innings, giving up one run on two hits, and striking out seven. Worthington-Scranton opened up the scoring in the top of the first, taking a 1-0 lead. Beaver answered by tying the score at 1-1 after 1. From that point, Beaver scored 3, 9, and 1 runs in the next three innings and won by a score of 14-1.
In the second game, sophomore Alyssa Carver (New Brighton High School/New Brighton, PA) took the mound, giving up two hits while striking out four on her way to a shutout. After being held scoreless in the first, Beaver scored 5 runs in both the second and third innings before scoring a final run in the fourth to take the game, 11-0.
Offensively, seven Beaver players recorded two or more hits for the day, led by Kory Freyermuth (Perry Traditional Academy/Pittsburgh, PA) who went six for six, with a double, home run, 3 RBI's, and 4 runs.
The Lady Lions now sit at 2-0 in the PSUAC and 9-7 overall. Beaver will host 2010 PSUAC champion Penn State Hazleton at noon, Sunday, April 10.
