Lady Lions Move to 10-0 in PSUAC

Monaca, PA - The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions softball team kept its PSUAC winning streak going after defeating Penn State Mont Alto in a doubleheader, 8-0 and 16-0, on Sunday, April 18. Beaver is now 10-0 in the PSUAC and 19-14 overall.
In the first game, Beaver built a slow lead, but eventually took the win. Freshman Chelsea Barnes (New Brighton High School, New Brighton, PA) and Ashley Watkins (Seneca Valley High School, Cranberry Township, PA) each had 2 hits for the Lady Lions. Freshman Jocelyn Wensel (St. Mary's High School, Force, PA) and sophomore Katie Landis (Rochester High School, Rochester, PA) each had 2 RBIs.
The second game ended in 3 innings after Beaver scored 3 runs in the first inning and 13 in the second, shutting out Mont Alto. Barnes and Watkins each had 2 hits, and sophomore Jamie Karpinski (Quigley Catholic High School, Baden, PA) had 4 RBIs. Senior Alonna Verrico (Rochester High School, Rochester, PA) added 3 RBIs.
On Tuesday, April 20, the Lady Lions will travel to take on Penn State Fayette in a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.
