Pioneers Defeat Lady Lions in Doubleheader

Pittsburgh, PA - On Saturday, March 27 the Point Park University Pioneers defeated the Penn State Beaver Lady Lions softball team in a doubleheader, 12-3 and 8-1.
In game one, the Pioneers scored three runs in the first inning. The Lady Lions came back at the top of the third with two runs, cutting the deficit to 3-2. However, in the bottom of the fourth, the Pioneers scored nine runs, and Beaver couldn't get back in the game.
Sophomore Ashley Watkins (Seneca Valley High School, Cranberry Township, PA) went 3-3 at bat and added 2 RBIs for Beaver.
In the second game, Point Park went up 4-1 after the first inning and added four more in the sixth. Freshman Chelsea Barnes (New Brighton High School, New Brighton, PA) scored Beaver's only run, courtesy of junior Kayla Chambers' (South Side High School, Hookstown, PA) RBI in the fourth inning.
The Lady Lions, now 3-10, will host the Carlow University Celtics at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 28.
