Beaver Ties with Hazleton for First Place in PSUAC

Hazleton, PA - On Friday, April 23, the Penn State Beaver softball team split a doubleheader with Penn State Hazleton, losing the first game 2-0, but winning the second 11-4. Both teams are now 13-1 in the PSUAC and tied for first place in the conference.
In game one, Hazleton started off scoring in the second inning with 1 run and added another in the third. Beaver could not get a run and took the loss.
In the second game, Hazleton started off with another 2-0 lead, but this time, Beaver came back to score 5 runs and eventually extended its lead to an 11-4 victory.
In the win, Beaver sophomore Lindsey Scialdone (Lincoln High School, Ellwood City, PA) had 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Freshman Lynsey Szymarek (McKeesport High School, Pittsburgh, PA) also had 2 RBIs and 2 hits, including a homerun. Senior Amanda Moore (PA Charter School, Aliquippa, PA) and freshman Alyssa Carver (New Brighton High School, New Brighton, PA) each had 2 RBIs.
Beaver is 22-16 overall. On Saturday, April 24, the team travels to Penn State Worthington Scranton for another PSUAC doubleheader at 2 p.m.
