Lady Lions Split With Wolverines
Monaca, PA - The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions softball team split a doubleheader with the Grove City College (Grove City, PA) Wolverines on Thursday, March 18. The Lady Lions won the first game, 6-3, but the Wolverines took the second game, 8-4.
Junior Kayla Chambers (South Side High School, Hookstown, PA) was the winning pitcher.
Sophomore Alysia Policaro (Beaver Falls High School, Beaver Falls, PA) was 1-2 with 2 runs, and freshman Lynsey Szymarek (McKeesport High School, Pittsburgh, PA) added 2 runs.
In the second game, the Lions held a 4-0 advantage until the Wolverines scored 5 runs in the fourth inning. Beaver never scored another run, and Grove City earned 2 more for the win.
Freshman Alyssa Carver (New Brighton High School, New Brighton, PA) was the losing pitcher. Policaro batted 2-2, and sophomore Jamie Karpinski (Quigley Catholic High School, Baden, PA) batted 2-3.
The Lady Lions are 2-6 overall. On Saturday, March 20 they will travel to Greenville, PA to take on the Thiel College Tomcats at 1:00 p.m.
