Lady Lions Defeat Franciscan in a Blizzard

Stubenville, OH- After an inch of snow fell, the Lady Lions advance their overall record to 8-15 after defeating the Lady Barons of Franciscan University on Tuesday. In the first game, the Lady Lions jumped ahead 5-0 after the first inning. The second inning Beaver brought in one more run as the Lady Barons brought in two runs of their own to make the score 6-2-Beaver.
The third inning, Beaver rallied 8 more runs against the Lady Barons to place them ahead 14-2. Both teams went scoreless in the fourth inning. Beaver added one more run to their score in the top of the fifth and held Franciscan to scoring only 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. After five innings of play, Beaver forced the 8 run rule again for the 2nd time this week and defeated Franciscan 15-4. The Lady Lions ended the game hot at the plate with 12 hits. Freshman Jamie Karpinsiki (Quigley Catholic/Beaver, PA) led with 3 RBI's.
After two innings in game two it would be called due to snow, as Beaver led the Lady Barons 4-1.
The Lady Lions(8-15, 2-0) jump back into conference play when they host the Wild Cats of Penn College on Friday, April 10th. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
