Lady Lions End Florida Trip with Double Loss
On Thursday, March 12 the Penn State Beaver Lady Lions softball team ended their spring break trip to Florida when they fell twice, 12-1 and 3-0, to the Alfred University Saxons (Alfred, NY).
In game one, Alfred scored six in the first two innings and six in the last two innings, cruising to a 12-1 victory. Beaver freshman Katie Landis (Rochester High School, Rochester, PA) got her first start on the mound, throwing five innings and giving up eight hits and eight earned runs on her way to her first collegiate career loss.
In game two, Alfred scored three in the first and took the game. Beaver sophomore Kayla Chambers pitched six solid innings, giving up only six hits to a powerful Alfred squad.
Beaver freshman Lindsey Scialdone (Ellwood City High School, Ellwood City, PA) had two hits and an RBI.
The Lady Lions are 2-6 overall. Beaver will return to action Tuesday, March 17 when they travel to take on the Grove City College Wolverines in a non-conference double header at 1 p.m.
