Keyser, WV -- The Penn State Beaver men's soccer team traveled to West Virginia to take on Potomac State in a non-conference matchup. Beaver has looked very good starting off this season, playing hard in every game so far. They look to continue this hard play against Potomac State to try to boost their overall record from 4-3 so far in this season.
Potomac State wasted no time starting this game off, as they scored within the first minute of the game, giving them an early lead. However, Beaver wouldn't let that lead stand for long as Anthony Voss tied this one up in the sixth minute on an assist from Dom DeMino. The rest of the first half was just a battle between the two teams and neither side would give up a goal for the rest of the first half.
The seond half was a tough battle from both teams, as neither really had an edge in this one. Potomac State out shot Beaver through this second half, but it was Beaver who scored first this time taking the lead off the foot of Darrion Gilmore. However, this lead wouldn't stand for long as Potomac State would score in the 71st minute, making this a tie game. Both teams really pushed for a game winning goal late in the half but it ultimately was Potomac State who scored with a minute left to play who took the lead and the game by a score of 3-2.
Beaver loses this game in a disappointing fashion, allowing the game winning goal with a minute left to play. The team now stands at 4-4 overall on the season with a 3-1 in coference record. Beaver is lead in this one by Junior Anthony Voss and Freshman Darrion Gilmore, who both scored a goal. Beaver will return to action on Saturday, October 1 against Penn State York at home. Game time is set for 4 pm.
