Beaver wins second game 4-0 over Penn State Hazleton

Hazleton, PA - The Penn State Beaver men's soccer team took on Penn State Hazleton Sunday afternoon to keep their win streak going after winning against Brandywine Saturday.
After their roaring win against Penn State Brandywine Saturday afternoon, Beaver knew they needed to keep the streak going against Hazleton. Beaver kept the momentum going winning 4-0 Sunday afternoon at Hazleton.
The first half each side had a fair amount of play with steady action. Each team did well defending and was scoreless the whole 45 minutes.
The second half was where Beaver came eager and enthusiastic. Within the first minute of the second half (46:34) sophmore midfielder, Kyle Fisher (Pittsburgh, PA/ Chartiers Valley) scored an unassisted first goal for Beaver. Following close by for Beaver's second goal was another unassisted goal by freshman Alex Rectenwald (Pittsburgh, PA/ Chartiers Valley) in the 53rd minute (53:44). As the minutes kept ticking by Beaver were eager to score another goal, and so they did in the 73rd minute (73:45) by senior Lamont Wright (Pittsburgh, PA/ Penn Hills) who was assisted by sophomore Logan Ridgley (Fombell, PA/ Riverside). As the game was nearing the end, senior Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/ Perry) scored the final and game winning goal in the 85th minute (85:41) assisted by Cory Mueller.
Leaders in the match were Smith with 2 shots, 2 shots on goal, and 1 goal. Ridgley with an assist. Fisher with 1 shot, 1 shot on goal, and 1 goal, along with Wright. Rectenwald came out of the match with the same stats and freshman goal keeper Samuel Sharpless (Conway, PA/ Freedom) had 7 shots on goal against him and saved all 7.
Beaver are now 2-1 in the PSUAC and 2-3 overall. Their next match is Tuesday, September, 22nd. They will be traveling to WCCC where game time is at 5 p.m.
