Monaca, Pa -- The Penn State Beaver men's basketball team fell to Penn State Hazelton 77-66 for their second conference loss this season.
The Penn State Beaver basketball team took on the men of Penn State Hazelton looking to snap their current four game losing streak. During this streak the team has struggled, especially in their shooting which has been one of the biggest dropoffs from their first two games.
The first half of this one was a tight match, as both teams came out of the gate playing hard to try and grab ahold of the momentum of the game. The two well matched teams went back and forth, as neither side was willing to give an inch. Eventually, the two ended the half with a score of 37-35 in favor of Hazelton. The game was in a virtual stalemate as neither side really had control of the game.
The second half was a much different game, as Beaver was able to grab a small lead. However, that lead was short lived as Hazelton rallied to take over the pace of the game while also taking the lead. As the half went on, Beaver became plagued with bad fouls and turnovers that Hazelton took full advantage of. Hazelton eventually built themselves a big enough lead that the game was too far out of reach for a struggling Beaver team. When it was all said and done, Beaver ended up losing this game by a final score of 77-66.
After their loss to Hazelton, Beaver has now lost five games in a row and now sits at 2-5 on the year with an 0-2 conference record. The team struggled once again in this one to make their shots which eventually lost the team their fifth straight game. The team was lead in this game by Freshman Dimetres Moore (Mesa, Az / Skyline) who scored a team high 16 points and hauled in 6 rebounds. The team will play next on Saturday, December 3, at home against Penn State Schuylkill. Game time is set for 3 pm.
