The Penn State Beaver men's basketball team loses to Chatham by a final score of 60-71.
The Penn State Beaver basketball team comes into their game against Chatham University looking to break up a two game losing streak against a good Chatham team. Beaver has struggled as of late, taking two disappointing losses in a row. The team needs a win against Chatham to get back on track and to take a winning record into the start of conference play.
Beaver started this game off slow as they had in their two previous games. The men struggled to get anything going offensively and once again shot poorly in the first half, making only 30% of their shots from the field. The team went into halftime down 36-19, needing a big spark to put the game back into reach. The second half of play, as in their past two games, showed a much more determined Beaver team. The men shot nearly 55% from the field and went 6-7 from the free throw line. Beaver managed to out score Chatham 41-35 in the second half of play, gaining a lot of momentum as the game went on. However, the team couldn't manage to overcome their deficit from the first half and ended up taking home another disappointing loss by a final score of 60-71.
Beaver now sits with a 3-3 record on the season after their loss to Chatham. This makes it three straight losses for Beaver as the team has struggled to start games off consistently in those games. Beaver was led in the losing effort by Junior Eric Gallupe (Sewickley, Pa / Avonworth), who scored a team high 15 points, going 3-6 from three point range. The team will play again on Tuesday, November 29, on the road against Penn State Greater Allegheny. This will start conference play for Beaver and game time is set for 8 pm.
