Beaver looses fast paced game to rival Penn State York
In a game that York led most of the way Beaver fought hard to come back but came up short as Beaver fell 103-97.

Monaca PA - Coming off of a 91-86 win against Penn State New Kensington, Beaver looked to continue the winning streak against Penn State York. After a sluggish start, Beaver did not lead until the second half of play. Back and forth Beaver would continue to crawl back within two points and lose their momentum going back down 8 or so.This was the theme for the entire game with Beaver coming up short.
A fast start by Penn State York jumping out to a 12-0 lead before Beaver's Christian Perkins (Pittsburgh, PA / Perry) tallied the first points for Beaver on an open layup making it 12-2. Beaver would go on a run scoring seven points in a row making the score 12-7. York then would go on a run of their own making the score 20-13 at the thirteen minute mark. Beaver would cut the lead to two with Eric Gallupe (Sewickley, PA / Avonworth) knocking down two free throws making the score 33-31. Beaver would then loose ground going back down 49-42 going into halftime.
York would continue to pull away from Beaver going up 58-49 at the seventeen minute mark. Beaver would claw back into the game with a Lamont Wright (Pittsburgh, PA/PennHills) layup cutting York's lead to 58-57. Beaver would take their first lead of the game off an Ignacio Alleyne (Stafford, VA /Colonial Forge) layup making the score 68-67. The lead wouldn't last for long as York would go up 88-79 with five minutes left and they didn't look back from there. The closest Beaver would cut the lead to was 96-89 off a Wright layup. It was all York after that with them going on to win the game 103-97.
Lamont Wright led Beaver with 34 points and 8 assists. Chiristian Perkins followed with 19, and G.J. Boykin (Aliquippa,PA / Aliquippa) would chip in with 16 points along with 12 rebounds. With the loss Beaver falls to 6-7 overall and 4-2 in the conference. The Lions travel to Penn State Du Bois on Wednesday for their next game.
