Lions End Road Trip With A Win
Beaver defeats Lehigh Valley 103-80
Allentown, PA – Coming off of a loss Saturday against Penn State Brandywine, Beaver gain a big win, 103-80 against Penn State Lehigh Valley.
Beaver opened the game on a 3-point jump shot by Eric Gallupe (Sewickley, PA / Avonworth) to take an early lead. Beaver would continue to build on their lead with two more points scored off a Lamont Wright (Pittsburgh, PA / Penn Hills) layup, giving Beaver a 5-0 lead at the 17:38 mark. Beaver gained 3 more points within the next minute taking the score to 8-2. Lehigh answered back with a 3-point shot digging into Beaver's lead (8-5). The Lions of Beaver then rallied on, with 7 points consecutively scored by Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh, PA / Perry). Beaver's offense continued to shine in the first half as Smith and Wright added two late 3-pointers to give their team a 36 point lead just before halftime.
Coming out of halftime, with the score 58-29, Lehigh Valley scored 6 points on two 3-point jump shots to try to cut into Beaver's lead. Beaver hit back quickly with Wright making a free throw and G.J. Boykin (Aliquippa, PA / Aliquippa) scoring a lay up to make the score 61-38. Beaver then allowed Lehigh Valley to get to within ten points of them at the 10:52 mark (68-58). After getting a little lax on defense, Beaver went back to their scoring ways as Gallupe, Wright, and Perkins all scored 3-point jump shots with Smith, Ignacio Alleyne (Stafford, VA / Colonial Forge) and Wanya Austin-Smith (Sharon, PA / Sharon) all scoring as well to increase Beavers' lead. Wright then scored at lay up at the 1:34 mark to break the 100 point barrier as Beaver comfortably finished out the game, winning 103-80.
Leading Beaver's offense was Wright with 20 points, following behind with 19 points was Smith. One point behind Smith was Gallupe with 18 points. Boykin had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds along with Perkins who managed a double-double himself with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Beaver's next game Tuesday, December 8th at 8 p.m. where they take on Penn State Fayette for their final home game of the semester.
