Beaver claim second win of the season

South Portland, ME - Beaver claim second win of the season over Southern Maine CC, 90-82 on Sunday night.
Beaver came out with a steady lead after 10 minutes of play in the first half (13-12). After Ignacio Alleyne (Stafford, VA/ Colonial Forge) made a layup. Beaver then rallied on taking steady lead on top of Southern Maine. Their lead increase after multiple 3 point shots and jump shots made by Christian Perkins (Pittsburgh, PA/ Perry) in the last 5 minutes of the first half, making their lead 36-24. Just minutes later, Perkins added 7 points to the score board for Beaver with free throws making it 43-28. As time ran out, the Lions carried a 49-32 lead into halftime.
The Lions came out fast and quickly gained 4 more points (53-32) onto Southern Maine at the 19:02 mark. Just like the first half, the Lions kept the lead over Southern Maine for most of the half. Southern Maine fired back offensively, gained points on the board coming close to gaining a lead on Beaver. Down by 10 (88-78), Southern Maine tried to come close to defeating Beaver in the final minutes of the game, but couldn't get past Beaver's supurb offense and defense. Despite the late effort from Southern Maine CC, Beaver hung on to win by a final score of 90-82.
Leading the Lions offensively was Lamont Wright (Pittsburgh, PA/ Penn Hills) with 25 points. Following behind him was Senior, Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/ Perry) with 22 points.
The Lions next game is at home on Tuesday, November 24 at 7 p.m. against Grove City College.
