Beaver Rolls Over Penn State New Kensington

The Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions advanced their PSUAC record to 14-2 on Wednesday after defeating the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State New Kensington.
At the start of the game New Kensington sparked an offensive run against Beaver giving them a 12-5 lead. Beaver stepped up when senior Matt Franitti (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) followed in on a missed lay-up to tip it in, from there Beaver and New Kensington went point for point and went in at the half all tied up at 31.
New Kensington came out in the 2nd half looking to repeat the offensive run they went on in the first half but was stopped by Beaver's defense. Beaver would force New Kensington to turn the ball over a total of 39 times and hold them to only 20 points. Sophomore Chancelor Humphrey (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) put Beaver up when he was fouled on a 3-point shot from the corner. Next offensive possession for Beaver, Humphrey would score an and-1 when fouled on a strong move to the rim. New Kensington would hit one last shot before Beaver would seal the game with a win by a score of 86-51.
Junior Zach Fetchin (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) and freshman Tony Houghton (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry Traditional Academy) led the Lion's with 15 points each to help Beaver improve their overall record to 17-5.
Beaver will continue PSUAC play when they travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday, February 14th. Tip-off is set for 7p.m.
