Penn State Beaver looks to compete for their second consecutive WPCIHL Championship
Monaca, PA -- The Fightin' Beavs, with the regular season winding dowm, are looking to make another strong playoff push to defend their WPCIHL Championship.
After starting the season 3-0 with wins over Duquesne, Cal U and CMU, the Beavs suffered back to back losses, deflating the team. Sitting at 3-2, Penn State Beaver bounced back with a huge victory over Cal U, winning by a final score of 9-4. Despite the seeming momentum, the Fightin' Beavs dropped their next game to CMU, but would win their final contest of the fall semester to give them a record of 5-3 going into the break.
In thier first game back, Beaver suffered a tough loss to Duquesne (8-0) on January 21st. However, they have turned things around and are on a four game win streak going into their final regular season game.
Leading the Beavs is sophomore, Jason Schwartz, with 7 goals and 3 assists so far this season. Right behind him is senior, Josh Kelly, with 6 goals and 2 assists.
The Fightin' Beavs curently sit in a tie for second place with Slippery Rock - Green just behind Duquesne who holds the top spot. February 24th, Beaver will square off against #1 Duquesne in the final regular season game with the puck drop scheduled for 11:30 p.m.
