Four Beaver Athletes Earn USCAA Honors
In the spring sports season, both Beaver baseball and softball had players earn All-American honors.
Three baseball players were selected this season. Earning 1st Team All-American honors was sophomore, Blaise McCarty of Beaver Falls, PA. This season Blaise batted an impressive .441 with 52 hits including 7 doubles, 2 triples and a home run with 16 RBI's. From the mound, as a closer, he pitched 14.1 innings striking out 24 with an ERA of 1.26.
Earning 2nd Team honors was sophomore Nick Casasanta of Moon Township, PA. Nick, the number two pitcher in the rotation has thrown 37.2 innings striking out 34 with an ERA of 2.87. He holds a record of 5-0 in 7 outings. From the plate he batted .349 with 29 hits and 13 RBI's including 4 doubles, 1 triple and 2 home runs.
Rounding out the honors for Beaver Baseball was freshman Jake Debo of New Brighton. The number one pitcher in the rotation and a clean up hitter, Debo earned Honorable Mention All-American. Batting .300, Jake had 30 hits and 31 RBI's including 10 doubles, 2 triples and 4 home runs. From the mound he threw 54.2 innings with an ERA of 3.95 with 28 strike outs.
On the women's side, senior Rachel Borrell of Downingtown, PA earned a 2nd Team All-American. One of the best all-around players in the program, Rachel has been a leader from the plate and in the field all season. Batting an impressive .431 she's tallied 24 RBI's on 31 hits (5 doubles, 3 triples) and racked up 6 stolen bases.
