Erie, PA - On Sunday, March 28, the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team dropped a doubleheader to the Golden Knights of Gannon University (Erie, PA), 6-0 and 9-1.
In the first game, Gannon scored all of its runs in the first two innings and shut out Beaver 6-0. Freshman Cory Wagner (Center High School, Aliquippa, PA) hit a double which was the Lions' only hit of the game.
Game two was similar, as Gannon did its work early and scored all nine runs in the first three innings. Beaver senior Ryan Raraigh (Riverside High School, Fombell, PA) put the Lions on the board with a home run in the fourth inning, but neither team scored for the remainder of the game.
Beaver freshman Tom Lewis (Hopewell High School, Hopewell, PA) had two hits in the loss, and sophomore Ron Wilkins (South Side High School, Hookstown, PA) hit a double.
Beaver, now 4-6, will host its PSUAC opener against Penn State Greater Allegheny (McKeesport, PA) at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 1.
