Beaver Wins Final Florida Game, Finishes Week with 4-2 Record
The Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team finished a successful week in Florida with a 4-3 victory over Northwestern College and a record of 4-2.
Beaver scored first, posting one run in the bottom of the first. Northwestern tied the game in the third before Beaver took the lead, 2-1, in the fifth. Northwestern scoree one run in the sixth and seventh to take a 3-2 lead, but Beaver posted two in the bottom of the seventh for the win.
Sophomore Greg Frederick (Quaker Valley High School) pitched four strong innings before giving way to freshman Jake Gram (Louisville, OH). Gram pitched three innings, gave up two hits, fanned one, and walked none. He gave up one earned run and earned his first collegiate victory. Sophomore Justin Parasida (Ambridge High School) pitched the eighth and ninth innings for the save.
Offensively, Beaver was led by senior Pat Ringel (Sto-Rox High School) and sophomore Pat Raraigh (Riverside High School) who each had two hits. Senior Jeff Trojan (Rochester High School) continued to swing a hot bat, recording two RBIs.
The Lions return to action at 2 p.m, Wednesday, March 19 when they host Waynesburg College for a doubleheader.
