Six Penn State Beaver Lady Lions selected to PSUAC All-Conference Team
Monaca, PA – Six Penn State Beaver Lady Lions selected to PSUAC All-Conference Team.
Tying their best overall record (29-11) under current head coach and 2019 PSUAC Coach of the Year, Andy Kirschner, six Lady Lions earned PSUAC All-Conference honors.
Leading the way was senior, Vanessa Jackson who is throwing an impressive 1.52 going 18-2 to lead the PSUAC. She has also struck out 97 batters, averaging over 5 strikeouts per game. She also pulls her weight from the batter's box, hitting .297 this season with 18 RBI's. Her efforts earned her both West Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year as well as a spot on the 1st Team All-Conference.
Joining her were senior classmates Brittany Garza who was also named 1st Team All-Conference and Dina Cable who earned a spot among the honorable mentions. Garza, a starting centerfielder for four seasons, has used her speed and amazing ability to see the ball off the bat to stay perfect in the outfield this season. She is also batting .344 with 9 stolen bases. Dina Cable, a catcher, also makes her presence known at the plate, batting .351 with 23 RBI's.
Three freshmen also made significant impacts this season. Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Taylor Johnson was named West Newcomer of the Year as well as earning a spot on the 1st Team All-Conference. Taylor landed in the top 5 in several statistical categories in the PSUAC including stolen bases (16), RBI's (35), runs (38). Joining her on the 1st team was her twin sister Tyler Johnson who batted .386 but led the PSUAC in at bats with 127. She also finished in the top five in the conference in runs (45), hits (49), triples (6) and RBI's (46). Rounding out the freshman group is Michelle Cisco who batted .456 which was 2nd in the PSUAC. She was also in the top 5 in homeruns (3) and hits (47).
