Athletic Department Announces Women's Soccer Coach
Penn State Beaver is excited to announce the hiring of Chet Gapczynski to head the Women's Soccer program on campus.
Chet Gapcyznski is a co-founder of FC Pittsburgh and a member of the Board of Directors. He is presently the head coach of the 06 and 05 black girl's teams at FCP. He also serves as the Director of Girls Coaching and holds a USSF National "B" level license.
Coach Gapczynski has spent over ten years in the Olympic Development Program both at the state and regional staff levels.
Chet has coached for over 30 years, starting in upstate New York during the 1980's and moving to the Pittsburgh region in the early 1990's. He has served as Club President, Director of Coaching and Head Coach. The academic institutions he has been affiliated with throughout his career include Lima Christian Academy High School, New Life Academy High School, Bishop Gibbons High School, Franklin Regional High School, North Allegheny High School and Central Valley High School. At the club level, he has been affiliated with Penns Forest, International Football Club and Pittsburgh Football Club.
During Chet's coaching career, his high school teams have consistently reached the playoffs including several state championship runs in Western Pennsylvania while his club teams always excel with PA State Championships and many tournament wins. Although he has coached both boys and girl's teams, Coach Gapczynski has focused his attentions to the girl's side for the past 20 years of his career.
Athletic Director, Andy Kirschner, is excited to have Chet with the department and thinks he will do a great job continuing to grow the program given his experience and connections within the soccer community.
