Julia Sabbio to Play Basektball at Beaver
Penn State Beaver women's basketball program welcomes it's fourth local recruit Julia Sabbio from Rochester High School.
Julia has been playing basketball for 10 years which included time at the Penn State Beaver girls youth camps growing up. Coach Moore has been able to watch Julia grow as a person and player over the last several years. Her greatest accomplishments include being named captain of both her cheerleading squad and basketball team, being named MVP of the Rochester Holiday Tournament, coaching the younger teams in her program at Rochester, and being named as one of The Times 2017 Top 22 Basketball All-Stars.
Julia chose to pursue her career at Penn State Beaver because of one of her influential coaches, Coach Iannini who has been involved in coaching Julia all 10 years of her playing. "Coach Iannini is a Penn State Alumni. His school pride, discipline and respect that he has taught us has made a lot of us want to achieve and teach the same" says Sabbio.
Julia chose Penn State Beaver academically because of the great degree. "Upon graduation my sports career will likely end and the rest of my life will come down to what I've achieved academically. With the Nation's strongest alumni as a testimonial, who wouldn't want to Rise and Roar to achieve that?"
Coach Moore is looking forward to coaching Julia now at the college level. "Julia is a great kid with a ton of potential. She is wiry, scrappy and will give you 100% every time she's on the floor. She can handle, has a great basketball IQ and shoots the ball well also."
