Seneca Valley Grad to Play Women's Basketball at Beaver
Seneca Valley High School senior guard Michaela Lamont has chosen to continue her academic and athletic career at Penn State Beaver for the women's basketball program.
Michaela has been playing basketball for 13 years which also includes time with the prestigious Drill 4 Skill AAU organization. Michaela's greatest accomplishment is overcoming two what-should-have-been career ending injuries to make it to where she is now. She chose to continue her basketball career at Penn State Beaver for many reasons. "First was how connected the girls were. When you meet all of them together you get this family feeling that you don't get with most college teams coming in as a freshman. They never made me feel like I wasn't good enough to compete with them. The girls and coaches were always complimenting me and encouraging me to work hard and do better. They brought back my love for basketball which I felt myself losing toward the end of my high school career" says Lamont.
Academically Michaela feels Penn State Beaver will be a great fit because she will be able to be more focused and able to pick things up better in a small classroom environment with excellent professors who make you a part of the family.
Outside of basketball Michaela enjoys hiking, volunteering, working out, car shows, and baking.
Coach Moore states "Michaela will be a great addition to our program, especially on the defensive end. She is long, has great speed and is used to defending the opponent's best players. On the offensive end she will be able to stretch the floor for us with her perimeter shooting and we will work with her on using her speed to attack the hoop."
