Beaver struggles on the road against Fayette

Fayette, Pa. -- The Penn State Beaver women's volleyball team were on the road again on Tuesday night, to compete against Penn State Fayette in the team's fifth conference matchup of the season. The ladies are playing very well and have won their last four games including two back-to-back conference matches this past weekend. The Lady Lions come into the game with a 2-2 record in the conference standings.
In the first set, Fayette took the lead early, but the teams remained close in the first few minutes of the game with Beaver down 6-7. However, Fayette went on a run, which put Beaver down by nine points in the middle of the set (8-17). The ladies tried but couldn't establish their offense and remained down, giving Fayette the set, 11-25.
Beaver played tougher in the second set, staying within a few points of Fayette. But towards the middle portion of the set, the ladies of Fayette started to widen the lead, leaving Beaver down 12-19. In the final minutes of the set, Beaver cut Fayette's lead down by five points but went on the lose the close-set, 20-25.
Hoping to disrupt Fayette's momentum, Beaver changed the rotation in the third set. However, the ladies continued to struggle with passing and sparking their offense against Fayette and lost the set 12-25, leaving Beaver's final score at 0-3.
With the loss to Penn State Fayette, Beaver is at 2-3 in the conference standings and 7-6 overall for the regular season. The women's volleyball team will be on the road again Wednesday, Sept. 26 to face off against Butler County Community College. Game time is at 6 p.m.
