Beaver Fails to Advance in PSUAC Playoffs
Media, PA -- Beaver loses first round game to Dubois.
After a win on senior night against Dubois, Beaver looked to make a repeat performance on the road in the playoffs. They started the match strong, taking an early lead, 12-6, in the first set. Once the tempo was set, Beaver stayed consistent and held as much as a 7 point led in the set (22-15) and eventually sealed the win 25-21.
In the second set they continued to put the pressure on Dubois, taking an 8-point lead (12-4) to start the set. They kept the pressure on and increased their lead to 10 (19-9) and went on to win easily, 25-13.
The third set, with Beaver seeming to be in command, started off rocky and Beaver went down by 5 early. Despite battling to narrow the score to 17-20, they couldn't ever get even and fell by a final set score of 25-20. The fourth set also started slugglish, but the ladies evened the score 7-7. With the teams going point for point, Beaver allowed Dubois to go on a five point run in the middle of the set to fall behind 13-18. With tension high, Beaver got even at 23 and looked to be in control again, but a late service error in the set turned the momentum and Beaver fell 27-25.
In the fifth set the teams exchanged points through the first 11 points, but late in the set, Dubois scored two consecutive points to gain an advantage and Beaver just couldn't over come their early serving errors to hang on for the win.
The loss ends Beaver's season with an overall record of 16-11 and a conference record of 12-4. Leading the attack on the day was Brooke Tomasko with 12 kills, followed by Jenna Petrucci with 11. Freshman, Imani Hargrove hit an impressive .500 on 9 kills while also adding 5 blocks. Ryanne "Roxy" Kie tallied 39 assists on the evening as well.
