Coraopolis, PA - For the second time in school history the Women's Basketball team was able to have the opportunity to play a NCAA Division I University. This time the Lions took on the Colonials of Robert Morris University in Coraopolis, PA. Ater a grueling non-conference schedule the Lions played well in PSUAC play only to have to go back to another tough non-confernce opponent, Robert Morris. This was a good opportunity for the Lions to play in another Divison I facility after getting many opportunities to do so in the Bryce Jordan Center at University Park where the Division I Penn State teams play.
After a tough 40 minutes of play the Lions were bested with a final score of 89-39 being defeated by a tought Robert Morris team. Scoring only 7 in the first quarter and 10 in both the 2nd and 3rd, Beaver had their highest scoring quarter in the 4th with 12 points. Leading the team was 4th-year, Kyra Seggewiss (Calagary Alberta, Canada) who scored 12 points, had 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. 2nd-year, Daniela Guzman (Plainview, TX) scored 8 points after coming off the bench and had 1 rebound. 4th-year, Caitlyn O'Hara (Norco, CA) also had 7 rebounds, with 1 assists, 1 block, and scored 2 points. 1st-year, Taylor Woodruff (Pittsburgh, PA) scored 5 points, with 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals this game.
Beaver might have not been up to par this whole game only being over 50% in on statistical category but they are primed and ready for the rest of the season after a tough game like this. Shooting 54.5% from the free-throw line, going 6-11, Beaver was lead by Guzman who mad 2-3 of her shots. Every person who was able to get on the court for Beaver did and got the chance to play against a tough Robert Morris team and compete in a fantastic Division I facility.
Beaver now goes into the holiday break with a record of 2-6 overall after playing one of the most grueling non-conference schedules to have been made. They are 2-0 in PSUAC play though with their next few weeks until break being nothing but PSUAC competition. Up next for Beaver is Penn State Shenango which they will travel to on Wednesday, November 29th to play at 6pm.
