Lady Lions Advance to USCAA National Championship!
The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions defeated Penn State Lehigh Valley in the USCAA final four, 70-54, to advance to the 2015 USCAA National Championship
Uniontown, PA- The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions defeated the #3 seeded Penn State Lehigh Valley 70-54 to advance to Saturday's USCAA Division II National Championship.
Lehigh Valley and Beaver were no strangers, playing twice already this season. Beaver won both of these encounters and are now 3-0 against them.
The first half went back and forth, with Lehigh Valley holding a three point lead at the 9:00 mark of the first half. Beaver went to work from there, building a 38-29 lead at the half. Beaver continued to stretch the lead and seamed to have the game in hand with a 11 minutes left in the game, and leading by 26. Lehigh Valley mounted a mini come back, cutting the lead to 13 with four minutes left in the game, but would never get any closer.
Turnovers were key for Beaver in the victory. Beaver scored 35 points off of the 35 turnovers they forced. Junior Morgan Kurtz led the way scoring for Beaver with 15. Senior Brittany Mineard (Beaver Falls/Beaver Falls, PA) added 13 and Sophomore Asia Borders (Lincoln/Ellwood City, PA) chipped in 12.
Beaver now advances to the 2015 USCAA Division II National Championship. Tip off is set for 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 7th, in the Main Areana on the campus of Penn State Fayette in Uniontown, PA.
