Lady Lions Down Last Opponent in the Regular Season
Beaver wins, 91-74
Monaca, PA- The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions hosted their final regular season game against Penn State Scranton on Saturday afternoon.
The first half opened with Beaver taking the lead early on and maintaining that lead throughout the half. Scranton tried to chip away at Beaver's lead but could not capitalize on their scoring efforts. Beaver was able to out rebound Scranton 32-17, giving Beaver an offensive advantage. Beaver went into the halftime up 32-26.
In the second half, Scranton came out with the intent to win, coming within one point of Beaver's lead. Scranton did this twice before the fire was lit under Beaver, who then picked up their pace. Beaver went on a scoring race and distanced themselves by 17 points at the end of the second half winning the game 91-74.
Beaver was led by two players with double-doubles, Kelsey Brooks (Pittsburgh, PA / Carrick) with 23 points and 14 rebounds and Asia Borders (Ellwood City, PA / Ellwood) with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Beavers other top players were Cassandra Flowers (Pittsburgh, PA / Westinghouse) with 10 points and Natalie Gamble (McKees Rocks, PA / Sto-Rox) with 9 points.
The Lady Lions finished out their regular season with a conference record of 12-3 (15-10 overall) and are the number 3 seed for the playoffs. Beaver's first playoff game is Wednesday, February 19th, hosted at the Penn State Beaver Fieldhouse.
