Tough Conference Game leads to Loss for Beaver
Sharon, PA - The Men's Basketball team traveled to take on Penn State Shenango in a PSUAC Conference match-up which lead to Beaver coming home with a loss. Beaver was able to fight through the first quarter of the game with the toughest part being the final 5 minutes. With a half time score of 35-42 leaning in Shenango's favor, Beaver had a tough second half ahead of them. After coming out the half-time break behind by 7, Beaver had some work ahead of them. With the second half score still finishing in Shenango's favor of 32-34, Beaver was unable to secure a victory. The final score of this game was 76-67, Shenango. Beaver went into the game with a 1-1 conference record while Shenango went into the game with a 2-0 conference record. This was a tough game for both teams and it showed through the play that happened on the court.
There was not one but two top scorers for Beaver this game. Both 1st-year, Alex Green (Chicago, IL) and 4th-Year, Chris Green (Washington DC) scored 19 points. Chris Green also had 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. Alex Green had 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. 3rd-year, Matt Brown (Upland, CA) scored 13 points, had 6 rebounds, and 2 steals this game.Off the bench was 1st-year, Nick Gjergji (Yorktown, NY) who scored 3 points, had 6 rebounds, 1 asssit and 1 block. 2nd-year, Jabari Gayle (Stafford, VA) had the second most rebounds for Beaver with 7 and scored 4 points, with 1 assist and 1 steal. The team went 20-31 from the free-throw line with was 64.5% lead by Brown who mad 5-6 shots.
The teams next game will be on Friday, December 1st when they hit the road once again to take on Penn State York in their first cross-over of the season.
