Fayette Goes Down on Beaver Senior Night
Monaca, PA - Penn State Beaver Men's Basketball was back in play for the final home game of the season. Today's game honored the seniors on the team for all the hard work and dedication they have given to the program. Fayette defeated Beaver just a week ago, and Beaver was looking for revenge, This game was definitely in Beaver's favor tonight closing their last home game with a win.
The first five minutes of the half, neither team could score. Beaver ended this by scoring the first bucket of the gam. Beaver then proceeded to go on a 13-0 run. Fayette managed to get a bucket wit just under eleven minutes remaining. Beaver came out to play in the first half, and continued to extend their gap. By the end of the half, Beaver scored 32 points and allowed Fayette to only sore 17 points.
Beaver continued to hod onto their lead going into the second half. Beaver held onto a steady 14 point lead for a good portion of the second half. Fayette slowly began to close the gap, and with four and a half minutes remaining, they were only down by 3 points. With a minute fifteen left, Fayette got their first lead of the game when the score sat 52-51. Beaver did not let them have that lead long and with forty-six seconds left, the score was 53-52 in Beaver's favor. Beaver then got a steal with just seconds remaining and scored a layup to win the game 55-52.
Today, seniors Izaiah Dickerson, Devon Johnson, Alex Avery, Zach Carrillo, and Tre Johnson were honored in a short ceremony before the game began. these seniors have dedicated years of hard work to the athletics program and the Men's Basketball team.
Senior Izaiah Dickerson (Washington, DC) recorded another double-double toy finishing with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Dickerson also had 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Senior Devon Johnson (Washington, DC) finished with 17 points, 5 steals, and 6 rebounds. Sophomore Chris Green (Washington, DC) came off the bench to finish with 17 points and 8 rebounds. As a team, Beaver shot 100% form the free throw.
