New Kensington, PA - Today's PSUAC Match-Up against Penn State New Kensington did not fair well for the Baseball team. After losing two more games in PSUAC play the team has a hard fight for the second half of the season. The first game finished with a score of 13-2 and the second was not much better as it finished with a score of 13-3, both in favor of New Kensington. Both games Beaver had 3 hits, scoring 5 total runs, and made a total of 8 errors.
On the mound in the first game was Sophomore, Aaron Stribling (Hainesport, NJ) who was relieved by Ricardo Elizondo Jr. (Los Angeles, CA). The three hits came from Sophomore, Jericho Dela Cruz (Auburn, WA), Freshman, Christopher Cann (Selden, NY), and Stribling. Cann and Stribling both had an RBI this game and Cann hit for extra bases getting the only triple this game for Beaver. Dela Cruz also hit for extra bases hitting the only double for the team. The team tallied 3 walks as well, leading to Dela Cruz getting on base 3 times and having 2 stolen bases. Freshman, Jordon Streamo (Niles, OH) also had a stolen base this game. Beaver only scored in the first inning leaving the door open for New Kensington.
For the second game, the baseball team still was only able to secure 3 hits and 3 runs. The starting 3 in the line-up had the only 3 hits for the day. Dela Cruz, Freshman, Nicholas Campbell (Lewes, DE)and Junior, Matthew Cater (Monaca, PA) all had 1 hit. Two Beaver players hit for extra bases, Dela Cruz with a double and Cater with a triple. Cater and Stribling had RBI's this game helping the Baseball team score and trying to tighten the score. Scoring 2 in the first inning and 1 in the 6th, Beaver just couldn't get the bats hot enough to make a dent in the score. On the mound though for Beaver was Cann who faced 23 batters and then was relieved by Streamo who faced 14 batters.
The baseball team will take on Penn State New Kensington again Monday, April 3rd at 2pm and 4pm at Beaver Field. Make sure to come out and support or watch all the action live on the Rise and Roar Network all season long!
