Bethany, WV - The Baseball team was back on the mound to ply their first game after spring training. Springtraining was not easy for Beaver. They played some tough teams and gave it their all, but fell short 0-6 by the end. Beaver traveled to West Virginia today to take on Bethany College. Their double-header against them proved to be another tough game,but they gave it their all fighting until the end. However, their efforts were not enough to overcome Bethany College. The first game ended 6-0. Bethany came out on top in the first inning after scoring 3 runs. They then closed the game in the fourth inning scoring another 3 runs, and not giving any runs to Beaver after 7 innings. The second game ended 15-2. Bethany College came out on top once again in the first inning after scoring 9 runs. they managed to score 3 runs in the third inning, 2 in the fourth, and 1 in the fifth. Beaver did manage to put up 2 runs in the fifth inning, but it was not enough to capture a win against Bethany College. Beaver picked their bags heading home with two losses.
In the first game, freshman Christopher Cann (Selden, NY) pitched the entire game for Beaver, and it was a bit of a struggle for him. Even though he managed to get 2 strike outs, he gave up 8 hits and 6 runs while having 3 errors. In the second game, Beaver rotated between four pitchers. Sophomore Aaron Stribling (Hainesport, NJ) faced 9 batters and was up first as pitcher and gave up 5 hits and 8 runs while also having 5 errors. Junior Matthew Cater (Monaca, PA) faced themost pitchers for Beaver and had 5 hits, gave up 4 runs, and only had 2 errors. Junior Ricardo Elizondo Jr. (Los Angeles, CA) faced 9 batters only gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, and had 2 errors. Senior, Joseph Braile (N. Las Vegas, NV) was the last pitcher for Beaver and he faced 10 batters. Braille managed to get 3 strike outs, the most out of any pitcher. Braille also gave up 2 hits, 1 run, and had 1 error. Christopher Cann and Sophomore, Jacob Gresham (San Francisco, CA) scored the two runs for Beaver in the second game. They did not do this alone as sophomore Aaron Stribling and Braile each got 1 hit which resulted in an RBI for them both.
Beaver will play their first home game of the season onwith Sunday March 19 or Monday March 20 against Westmoreland County Community College. stay up to date for the game time and day at beaverathletics.com!
