Big Conference Win Against New Kensington
Monaca, PA - The Men's Basketball was back in action at home to take on New Kensington.
The Lions have had a tough season so far, sitting 1-8 in the conference.
The first half of this game was filled with great competition from both sides. The game remained close, both sides scoring buckets back and forth. At the eight minute mark, Beaver gained just a three point lead on New Kensington. This momentum pushed Beaver for the remaining eight minutes, and with five minutes left Beaver was up by ten. New Kensington would cut Beavers' lead down to six with a minute remaining, but Beaver did not give up and closed the half with 36 points and held New Kensington to 24.
Going into the second half up by 12, Beaver was not going to let their lead down. Just four minutes into the half, Beaver was up by 16 points. Beaver kept their lead above ten points for the entire half, reaching their highest lead of 26 points. Beaver closed the game scoring 38 points in the second half and getting a much needed win 74-51.
Senior Devon Johnson (Washington, DC) lead the way for Beaver tonight. Johnson finished with 26 points, 8 steals, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds. Senior Izaiah Dickerson (Washington, DC) had another double-double tonight finishing with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Tre Johnson (Dayton, OH) finished with 10 points and 3 steals.
Beaver now sits 2-9 in conference and 3-15 overall. The Lions have a ten day break until their next game. They will be back in action for another conference game traveling to take on Penn State Mont Alto. Tip off will begin at 3pm EST on January 28th.
