Beaver’s Losing Streak Continues After a Close Match-up Against UC Clermont
Monaca, PA - The Men's Basketball team was back in play tonight for a holiday mach-up against University of Cincinnati Clermont.
Going into tonight's game, Beaver has gone without a win the first half of the season. The game started off strong with Beaver scoring the first basket less than two minutes into the game. UC Clermont did not back down. Within six minutes of the first half, UC Clermont would lead 14-8. Beaver did not back down, and battled back to take the lead with just under ten minutes remaining. Beaver held onto this lead for the remaining of the first half and close the half with 38 points and holding Clermont to 37.
The second half of the game went much like the first. Both teams continued to score back and forth with the game remaining close. At one point, Beaver was able to gain a four point lead over UC Clermont. UC Clermont would respond and keep the score neck-in-neck with Beaver. Beaver continued to battle with UC Clemont throughout the half, but UC Clermont was able to gain a nine point lead over Beaver with just under six and a half minutes remaining. Beaver battled back and took a one point lead over UC Clermont with just over two and a half minutes remaining. With just over a minute remaining, the game tied 71-71. UC Clermont gained a three point lead with just sixteen seconds remaining. Beaver was unable to tie the game after a missed three point shot in the last seconds of the game. UC Clermont traveled home with a 76-73 win over Beaver.
Senior Devon Johnson (Washington, DC) played a great game tonight finishing with 32 points, 5 steals, 4 assists, and 7 rebounds. Senior Izaiah Dickerson (Washington, DC) finished the game with 17 points, 1 steal, 1 assist, and 5 rebounds. Sophomore Chris Green (Washington, DC) finished the game with 15 points, 4 steals, 1 assists, and 8 rebounds. Senior Alexander Avery (Stanford, VA) finished the game with 7 points, 1 steal, 2 assists, and 5 rebounds.
